The riverside location is fantastic for a quick escape, allowing easy access to scenic walks along the water. The large leather sofas in the bar area provide a perfect spot for unwinding after a long day.
The reception and hallways look like they could use some love. there’s a certain mustiness to them that detracts from the initial impression. The rooms, particularly the Superior Double, feel stuck in the past with cheap furniture, requiring an upgrade to match the views from the windows. My room had a sash window that barely opened, leaving the room a bit too warm. The bathroom tiles show their age, and a modern touch would really elevate the experience.

It was just a great fit for a fleeting moment in Llangollen with good price-quality ratio. The location is excellent. The free car park had plenty of room. Just ensure you're okay with hard beds!

Breathtaking river views and lovely breakfast
Our stay was delightful, with a stunning view of the river Dee from our room that truly enhanced the experience. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, including a delicious full English that was perfectly cooked. The friendly staff made us feel at home, and the location was perfect for exploring Llangollen. the shower pressure was sometimes low, which could use improvement.

I stayed at The Hand Hotel for a couple of nights. The location is brilliant, right by the river, making it perfect for exploring Llangollen. The bar had fantastic views with big windows, which I really enjoyed. Breakfast offered a good variety, and the strong coffee was a highlight. The staff were friendly and welcoming, always ready to help. the decor felt outdated, and some of the furniture seemed in need of an upgrade. The water pressure in the shower left much to be desired, making for a less than refreshing experience. The noise from the bar was quite disruptive at night, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. Parking was convenient, which was a plus.

The compact room offered great views of the river, while the breakfast provided ample choices, including delicious fruit and yoghurts. Good WiFi reception was a plus, but the noise from the bar on the weekends was noticeable. The shower curtain in the bathroom could use an update.

Ideal for a Weekend Getaway
So I stayed there for 3 nights. Staff were super chatty and helpful, made me feel like a king, like they knew I was in charge. Breakfast was fantastic! They had a full English breakfast that was just what I needed to get the day started right, you know? Plus I had a room with a river view! It was surreal to wake up and just gaze out at the water. That was nice.
Sure, it wasn't exactly budget-friendly, but you get what you pay for, right?

Consider requesting a room away from the bar to avoid noise disturbances from live bands and late-night revelers.

Scenic views over the river Dee provide a striking backdrop, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation. The location near local attractions invites convenient exploration, enhancing the overall experience.
While the hotel carries a historical charm, it definitely leans toward the outdated side. Noise issues can arise from nearby entertainment, especially if your room is directly above the bar, where sounds of revelers can extend late into the night. The shower pressure barely delivers a satisfying wash, which could disappoint anyone used to a proper rinse after a long day. Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. Limited options at the bar can be a letdown for those hoping for late-night snacks or meals. the lack of significant soundproofing could hinder quality sleep, particularly for families.

Breakfast at The Hand was proper lush! They had the biggest selection of hot and cold options – those sausages were bang on! Plus, the riverside location made chilling out by the water a must. Would definitely pop back!
Bit noisy at night – my room overlooked the courtyard, and folks were gabbing away till late, making it hard to snooze.

I truly enjoyed the charming atmosphere and the beautifully refurbished gardens overlooking the River Dee. The staff were attentive and accommodating, making my stay pleasant and relaxing. The hotel's historical character added to its overall appeal.
More accessible facilities would be helpful for seniors.

We had an awesome time with friends here! We checked out the Railway and the local cafes. The place is charming with friendly staff and a good breakfast. Just a heads up, some rooms could use a refresh, but the location and overall vibe make it worth it!
We had to switch rooms when the first one felt too dated, with old decor and a moldy shower curtain. It wasn't ideal, but they accommodated us without issues.
